Seawater desalination methods: distillation and reverse osmosis
Distillation method: Distillation method emerged relatively early, and its technology has been continuously improved and developed, accounting for a wide proportion in the water industry. The essence of the distillation and desalination process is the formation of water vapor, which is similar to the principle that seawater is heated and evaporated to form clouds, which, under certain conditions, cool down to form rainwater. Distillation methods can be divided into: vacuum distillation, steam compression distillation, multi-stage flash distillation, etc.
Reverse osmosis method: Reverse osmosis method, also known as ultrafiltration method. The principle is to use a semi permeable membrane that only allows solvents to pass through and does not allow solutes to pass through, separating seawater from freshwater. In general, fresh water diffuses to the sea water side through the semi permeable membrane, so that the liquid level on the sea water side gradually rises until a certain height. This process is called infiltration. At this time, the static pressure of the water column on the sea water side that is higher is called osmotic pressure. If an external pressure greater than the seawater osmotic pressure is applied to the seawater side, the pure water in seawater will reverse osmosis into fresh water.
Working principle of vacuum boiling water maker:
The seawater supply pump provides water and enters the vacuum pump. The seawater passes through the shut-off valve and enters the vertical pipe. The outer wall of the vertical pipe is filled with high-temperature cooling water from the host. The seawater is heated here and begins to gasify when it reaches the boiling point. Under the action of the vacuum pump, the pressure inside the water generator decreases, and the seawater will gasify at lower temperatures. After flowing out of the vertical pipe, steam overflows from the water, bypassing the steam water separators on both sides of the shell and tube condenser above the horizontally placed rectifier, and entering through the opening in the upper part of the condenser shell. The seawater used for cooling flows through the condenser tube and is pumped out by the condensate pump to the desalination tank.
